When Japanese children enter junior high school, they start calling the students in the higher grades “sennpai” and the students in the lower grades “kouhai.” Seniors – juniors relations become clear at this stage. In club activities in particular, the older students hold a position of absolute authority.
Seniors – juniors relations like these are the same when they become high school students, university students and then full-fledged members of society.
They will respect to persons who are older or have more experience than themselves.
In return, sennpai will do many things to help them.
