Japanese take moral responsibility

In the case that a waitress in a restaurant makes a mistake to spill a drink on a customer’s clothes. It is simply the problem of the waitress, and it has nothing essentially to do with the restaurant. Usually, it is enough if the waitress apologize, but in Japan the manager will generally come over and apologizes, because the restaurant is thought to have the moral responsibility for hiring such waitress.

As a result, you can keep good human relations

Non-Japanese may find it difficult to understand the responsibility, which is not legal. This type of behavior, however, to serve to alleviate the mental sufferings of the customer, preserve good human relations and make business run smoothly.
