Unforgettable communication – Homevisit Plus

The participant Carol Wiliams came to Japan from Pennsylvania, USA on a tour. This is her second visit to Japan. She loves to see local Japan. So, she visited mainly Kyushu, including Gotou islands last time and this time Her travel started from Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture and visited various central Japan and Tokyo on the way to the return.

She joined the home visit program on one free day It was great chance for her to visit a non-sightseeing town where no tourists visit and can see real Japanese life. She visited shops, had lunch and took a local bus to the visiting home as just like a Japanese. She seemed enjoyed walking around the home, where she took interest in a small shrine.

Japanese are reputed for their high moral and manner. You will find them vividly in this program. For most unforgettable experience in travel would be communication with the local people, who can be friends.

Caril & Toshiko

I visited the home of Toshiko in Shinyurigaoka, Kawasaki city which can be reached by public transportation from Tokyo. There I emerged into a state-of-the train station with shops and restaurants ranging from the 100 Yen store to an upscale department store with an elegant food hall. We went to a sushi restaurant which featured online ordering at the table and delivery from an automated “train” that very much reminded me of the automats of the 1960’s. And, the sushi was perfectly prepared and delicious.

It was a short bus ride to theier house which is a typical attached Japanese house with a spacious floor plan and lovingly decorated. A warm, friendly atmosphere in a quiet neighborhood which overlooks the bay and Mt. Fuji. The Tosiko and her husband are a warm couple and gracious hosts.
